Advanced Custom Properties
This tool allows user to assign custom properties to parts and subassemblies. Additional tools are provided to create templates to assign custom properties quickly.
Current Template
A new empty template is selected every time this tool is used. Users can select previously saved template from the drop down.
A template consists of a list of custom properties. Each custom property in the list can be configured to save a list of selection.
Delete Existing
Clicking on the Delete existing button will display a new window. Users can select custom properties to permanently delete from selected part files.
Check the properties to delete in the Custom Properties area. Then check the parts to delete properties. Alternatively, check on Select all parts to delete from all parts.
Extract Existing
The Extract Existing button extracts all the existing custom properties in all the parts of the assembly and places them in the Custom Properties list.
Clicking any custom property from the list shows the custom property value in the Parts List.
Click on the “+” or “-” buttons to manually add or remove custom properties from the list.
Configure Custom Property:
There are three types of custom property.
- Text: The custom property value are different for all parts. Users can input any value.
- Selection: The custom property values are reused among the parts. Users can create a list of these reused values in the Available Selections list. The Custom Property Value textboxes automatically changes into drop down textboxes. However, users can still type in other values apart from the Available Selections list.
- Document Value: The custom property values are derived from document properties and cannot be modified. i.e. Mass, Density, Volume, Surface Area, Material.
Parts List
There are 2 options to choose the components of an assembly to be displayed:
- Show Parts Only / Show Parts and Subassemblies:
This option toggles whether subassemblies within an assembly is displayed. - Top Level Only / All Levels
This option toggles whether only the top level parts are displayed (parts within subassemblies are excluded) or parts from all levels are displayed (parts within subassemblies are included).
Save New Template
Use this button to save the current list of custom properties and selections into a new template. The template can be reused for any other assembly.
Update Template
Use this button to update and save any changes made to an existing template.
Note: The default New Template cannot be updated and must be saved using Save New Template.
Delete Template
Use this button to delete the currently selected template.
Note: The default New Template cannot be deleted.
Set Properties
All the custom property values in the Parts List will be written to the parts.
Note: This action cannot be undo. Use the Delete Existing button to delete any unwanted custom properties from parts.
