- Example that you have a three surface that you need to combine. You can see that one of the surface having a different profile shape. With this you may need to follow the steps as below.
2. First we identify how much is the vertices for the Profile that we need to follow. As shown above, besides the two end points, there are 4 vertices within the Profile.
3. From the Wireframe toolbar, select the Point icon.
For Point type, select the Circle Sketch/Edge shown
For Distance on reference, select Ration of curve length and enter 0.2
Click OK.
4. From the Wireframe toolbar, select the Point icon.
For Point type, select the Circle Sketch/Edge shown
For Distance on reference, select Ration of curve length and enter 0.4
Click OK.
5. From the Wireframe toolbar, select the Point icon.
For Point type, select the Circle Sketch/Edge shown
For Distance on reference, select Ration of curve length and enter 0.6
Click OK.
6. From the Wireframe toolbar, select the Point icon.
For Point type, select the Circle Sketch/Edge shown
For Distance on reference, select Ration of curve length and enter 0.8
Click OK.
7. Repeat step 3 till step 6 for the other circular sketch/edge.
8. From the BIW Template toolbar, select the Junction icon.
Select the 3 sketches as shown.
9. Highlight the Coupling Point Tab.
Select Coupling Point 1 and Coupling Point 2 as shown
10. Select Coupling Point 3 and Coupling Point 4 as shown.
11. Select Coupling Point 5 and Coupling Point 6 as shown.
12. Select Coupling Point 7 and Coupling Point 8 as shown.
13. Select Coupling Point 9 and Coupling Point 10 as shown
14. Select Coupling Point 11 and Coupling Point 12 as shown.
15. Click Preview to see the created surface. As you can see the connection is good, however we may need to improve the smoothness by apply tangency at respective surfaces and sections.
16. Highlight Section 1 and select the respective surface. This will apply tangency with the selected support.
17. Highlight Section 2 and select the respective surface. This will apply tangency with the selected support.
Repeat the same step for Section 3 and its respective surface as well.
18. You should be able to get the smooth Junction connection of the 3 surfaces.
