CATIA Surfacing with Advanced Law
Law can be divided into 4 types which are constant, linear, s-type and advanced. In this post, we will look into the advanced law.
General Steps:
- Create a Guide Curve
- Create a Definition and Reference for the advanced law
- Create the law using sweep function.
Lets go into the first step. Creating the Guide Curve.
- Firstly, make sure that we are in the Generative Shape Design workbench.
A simple guide curve like a picture above can be made through different features in CATIA for example using splines, polylines, sketches and etc.
- After the guide curve was made, make the Reference line. The reference line usually is just a simple straight line.
- Then, create a new sketch for the definition. Below is an example of a definition that can be made.
- After these steps, you should have these three sketches which are the guide curve, definition and reference.
- After these 3 sketches were made, proceed to make the law for our part.
-
- After the Law Definition window popped up, select the straight line as the reference and the definition profile sketch as the definition.
- Click OK and a new law will be created at the specification tree.
- After the law was created, proceed to the sweep function
- A window will pop up, in this example, select sweep with center and radius.
- Select the “Guide Curve” as the center curve, then click the “Law” button on the side.
