Did you know? You can change your default view orientation at anytime in SOLIDWORKS.
Let’s say you want to change your default isometric view from A to B as shown:
It’s easy! Follow through these steps to find out how to change your default view orientation:
- Set your Front view.
Decide on which face you would like to use as the new Front View.
For example, if you want to have an isometric view as shown in Image B above, your front view should be from this direction - Orient this face normal to the screen.
Select the face, then press Ctrl+8. (You may also use any other rotate or pan tools). - From the Heads-up View Toolbar, click View Orientation.
Or,
Press the Spacebar on your keyboard to activate the View Selector. - From the dialog, click Update Standard Views and select Front.
- Click Yes on the message.
- The default view is now updated. Switch to the orientation view by using the View Selector or shortcut Ctrl+7 to see the changes.
