1. CATIA Licenses are often put into one PC that acts as the “Server”.
2. The advantage of this configuration is that the license can be made floating. When the license float, it can be grabbed from any PC that is connected to it.
3. Before we can set connect the client PC to the server PC, we need to check our license type.
4. To check this, contact your CATIA reseller on your license type if its nodelock or server/concurrent.
5. Only server/concurrent license can be configured into “Floating” state.
6. First, identify your server PC.
7. Go to windows command prompt.
8. Type “ipconfig” without the ” and look for the ipv4 address. Copy this IP somewhere as we will use it later.
9. Type “hostname” without the ” and look for the PC hostname , Copy this hostname somewhere as we will use it later as well.
10. Go to C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes. If there are no folder named “Licenses”, then create a folder named “Licenses”.
11. In the “Licenses” folder, create a notepad named “DSLicSrv”
12. Inside of the notepad. put the IP and Hostname that we have copied earlier and end each line with :4085 like this example below
13. Based on the picture above, the first line is the IP and second is Hostname.
14. Then, go to the Nodelock Key Management and look at the property tab. If everything is done correctly, we will see that the status of the license is Green.
15. If it is grey of red, then means some troubleshooting will be needed. It will be covered in other post.
