When using SOLIDWORKS, the filter icon 
might be activated accidentally.
This prevents you from selecting your entities as usual.
To turn this off, follow these steps:
- Go to View > Toolbars > Selection Filter.
Or press the shortcut key F5 on your keyboard. - The selection filter toolbar will appear at the bottom of your screen. Turn off any active filter by clicking on it.
Your cursor now should be back to normal.
- You can also use the Clear All Filters button.
- Optional: Hide back the selection filter toolbar by pressing F5 again.
