By default, SolidNetwork License Manager have a timeout period of 2 hours for idle licenses. In other words, if a user is inactive for a period of time, the license will return back to the server after the time out period.
The time out period can be modified to any time between 15 minutes to 2 hours.
In order to control the timeout period, an Options file is used that is read by the License Manager. By default, License Manager does not have the Option File.
Step 1. Open SolidNetwork License Manager Server at the License Server machine.
Click Modify in the Server Administration tab.
Step 2. Select Activate/Reactivate your product license(s), then click Next.
Step 3. Check on the option for Options Files, then click Edit.
*If you already have an options file saved somewhere else, you can browse to the folder. Otherwise the default folder will be C:\Program Files (x86)\SOLIDWORKS SolidNetwork License Manager\Licenses.
Step 4. Click Yes on the Pop-up message.
Step 5. Type in the line TIMEOUT <product feature name> <time in seconds>
Within this Options text file, you can add multiple lines to manage different things.
At the end of the this post, there is a list of all product feature name that can be used.
For the above example, we change the timeout for the SOLIDWORKS application itself to 15 minutes.
Keep in mind that the time is in seconds. So to reduce it to 1 hour, you’d enter 3600.
You can also set the TIMEOUT period for all products using TIMEOUTALL
Step 6. Once done, save and close the Option File. Then proceed to click Next and subsequently reactivate all the licenses available in the License Manager.
