Create Spring

This tool allows users to create springs within a SolidWorks Part file.

Basic Parameters

Prior to using the tool, a sketch of a circle needs to be created. Select the sketch in the basic parameters.

Spring Type

The type of springs available include: Compression, Extension, Torsion, Spiral.

Defined by

The spring can be defined by multiple sets of parameters.

1. Pitch and revolution
2. Height and revolution
3. Height and pitch

Section profile

The spring section profile can be configured to three shapes:

1. Circle
2. Rectangle
3. Trapezoid

The dimension of the section profile can be modified in the text box.

End specification

Modifies the starting and ending parameters of the spring. Pitch and number of revolution can be changed.

Check on Ground two ends to make the ends of the spring flat.

Additional option

Check reverse direction to reverse the direction of the spring relative to the sketch selected.

Check right-hand spin to change the direction of spin.

Check show preview to show preview.

Enter a taper value in degrees to modify the taper of the spring.

Check on taper outwards to change the direction of taper.
