SOLIDWORKS offers a few available options when opening your drawing files to cater to your needs for the best working eficiency.
Here is a brief summary of the different open modes available for drawings:
Fully loads all model data into memory.
Loads only a subset of data into memory. Model data can be loaded on an as-needed basis to perform operations such as importing model items.
Lightweight drawings can also be fully resolved by right-clicking a lightweight view and selecting Set Lightweight to Resolved from the menu.
Opens a drawing without part or assembly data. Smart Dimensions and annotations can be added for views, but importing model data is not available.
A drawing opened in Detailing mode can be resolved by clicking Resolved Drawing from the CommandManager.
- Quick View
Opens a simplified representation of the drawing. When in Quick View, selections cannot be made and annotations cannot be added. It is designed for viewing and printing drawings.
A drawing opened in Quick View can be resolved by right-clicking and selecting Load Sheet or Load All Sheets from the menu.
- Selecting Sheets
For multi-sheet drawings, the Select Sheets button can be used to select which sheets to load. The other sheets will be loaded as Quick View.
