The bounding box algorithm finds the smallest area in which to enclose the flat pattern for the part. At times, the direction of the bounding box is not very effective (Figure 1).
When this occurs, you can specify the bounding box in any direction by using a sketch or an edge in the Grain Direction option in the FeatureManager (Figure 2).
The grain direction can be accessed from the Flat-Pattern folder on the FeatureManager Design Tree by right-clicking over that folder and choosing the ‘edit feature’.
Click over the Grain direction’s selection box and choose the specific direction on the model.
