Propagating changes for parts in multi parts assembly can be a daunting task.
This method can help to reduce the job load and speed up design changes.
In this example, the idea is to create few shapes that able to fit to a block.
The sketch will be used as reference for the parts sketch later.
1. Create and extrude the block containing different shapes.
Save the file. This will serve as master model.
2. In order to link the block sketch to the models, create new part.
Click Insert > Part
Turn on options for Absorbed Sketches and/or Unabsorbed Sketches.
Both option will bring the sketches into the new part in original form.
3. Show the sketch and extrude the shape accordingly then save the file.
Repeat the process for all shapes.
4. Insert file containing block as 1st part in new assembly file.
Click OK to align the part to the origin of the assembly.
Using the same method, add each shapes to the assembly to complete the model, avoiding using Mates command.
Editing Master Part File
Open and edit original block sketches according to requirement.
Both parts and assembly will automatically updated.
