When in the component editing mode during assembly, some user gets annoyed with the default display that they experienced. They felt like the transparency of other component is distracting the view as for example below:
In SolidWorks, there were settings that can be set for the default transparency to use during component editing:
- Go to Options and select Display
2. Under Assembly transparency for in context edit, select one of the following:
Option | Description |
Opaque Assembly | Components not being edited are opaque. |
Maintain assembly
transparency |
Components not being edited retain their individual transparency
settings. |
Force assembly
transparency |
Components not being edited use the transparency level you set here. Move the slider to the desired transparency level. |
3. Click OK.
There were also transparency setting for one-time use only:
- Enter the edit component mode by right-click on the part and click Edit Component
2. Click on Assembly Transparency.
3. Then, select from the following:

Force assembly

4. Edit the part as needed.
