Sensors are used to monitor specific properties based on Sensor Types in a part or assembly. For more information about Sensor Types and Alerts, visit: https://wiki.cadcam.com.my/knowledgebase/sensor-types-and-alerts/
In this post, we will be discussing on how to create a sensor to monitor the value of an existing dimension. If the dimension becomes less than 0.5 mm, an alert will be triggered.
- Add sensor.
Under the FeatureManager design tree, right-click on Sensors and click Add Sensor.
Choose the Sensor Type: Dimension and select the reference dimension.
Check on Alert and select is less than, then type 0.5.
The sensor is now added to the Sensors folder under the FeatureManager design tree.
- Open a part in the assembly and change it’s dimension.
In this case, the part washer will be edited. The thickness is changed from 2.00 mm to 2.75 mm.
This value will result in smaller gap between the washer and arm in the assembly.
- Save and close the part, return to the assembly.
Under the FeatureManager design tree, a warning marker appears as an indicator that the dimension has become less than 0.5 mm.
This can be a very useful tool for designers, as it can assist as an indicator for specific design requirements.
