A common issue faced is when a set of shapes have to be used repetitively in a sketch to represent common hardware items.
Rather than having to draw the same shape repetitively whenever needed, you can save it as a sketch block and reuse whenever needed.
How do you make a Sketch Block?
Using a sketch you want to create a sketch block of,
First right click on the sketch area, select Make Block.
Specify which sketch entities will belong to the block and click OK.
Once the block has been created, the sketch will turn to grey in colour.
(colour specified by System Options, Colors > Sketch, Inactive. Grey by default)
You will also notice that the sketch is now an absorbed item under your sketch in the design tree.
This block contains all the selected sketch entities along with its dimension.
Which means that the block is free to move around if no constraints/ dimensions is added to the block.
To use this sketch block outside of this part,
right-click on the sketch block > Save Block
In a new part file that requires this sketch block,
Create a new sketch on a face/ plane that this sketch will sit on.
Use the Insert Block feature (Tools>Blocks>Insert), select the block title you saved previously.
Click on a region on your sketch to place this block, then click OK.
You can now add in dimension/ relationship to define the placement of the block.
This sketch with the block can be now used to insert any features to your part.
