CAUSE
Effective with the release of SOLIDWORKS Simulation 2017 SP3.0, the option to use Cyclic Symmetry fixtures has been removed from frequency and buckling studies. Starting with that release, you must suppress or remove ‘Cyclic Symmetry’ fixtures in frequency and buckling studies.
SOLUTION
1. Cancel the simulation.
2. Delete the ‘Cyclic Symmetry’ fixtures.
3. Either replace the fixtures with ‘Symmetry’ or ‘Roller/Slider’ fixtures when possible, or simulate the full model.
Note: You can use symmetry to model a portion of the model instead of the full model. The results on the un-modeled portions are deducted from the modeled portion. When appropriate, taking advantage of symmetry can help you reduce the size of the problem and obtain more accurate results. Symmetry requires that geometry, restraints, loads, and material properties are symmetrical. In general, using symmetry is not recommended for buckling and frequency studies.
