In some assemblies, components show Toolbox icons (e.g. bolt icon) even when they’re not actual standard Toolbox parts. Also, large assemblies may cause SOLIDWORKS to crash or freeze when loading Toolbox elements.
Symptoms & Causes
-
A part has the bolt icon even though it’s custom.
-
The bolt icon stays until you suppress/unsuppress the part.
-
SOLIDWORKS crashes or locks up while loading large assemblies with Toolbox parts (no error shown).
Workarounds & Fixes
-
Suppress / Unsuppress the component
-
Temporarily suppress the part in the assembly, then un-suppress. Often the bolt icon disappears.
-
-
Reset “IsToolboxPart” property
-
Use methods described earlier (Set Document Property, move files, edit properties) to clear Toolbox tags.
-
Ensure part is not located in Toolbox folder.
-
-
Simplify or remove excessive Toolbox parts
-
In large assemblies, reduce number or complexity of Toolbox components to reduce memory/stability load.
-
-
Check for corrupt or mismatched Toolbox parts
-
If the part was imported or altered externally, it may carry invalid Toolbox references.
